The classical highlight concert at the Dorpskerk in Wassenaar
“Song of the Earth” (Lied von der Erde, 1908) by Gustav Mahler
Village Church Wassenaar
Doors open: 19:30 | Start: 20:00
This year our traditional Dorpskerk concert will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017. On the program you will find one of the most expressive compositions in the entire music literature: the famous “Song of the Earth” (Lied von der Erde, 1908) by Gustav Mahler, after Hans Bethge’s collection of Chinese poetry “The Chinese flute”.
We are very proud to welcome some of the finest musicians: Lawrence Renes, music director and chief conductor of the Royal Swedish Opera (performing already for the second time at our festival), Swedish tenor Michael Weinius and Swedish baritone Karl-Magnus Fredriksson. Together with musicians from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Dutch Radio Philharmonic Orchestra they will bring this masterwork back to life in the beautiful setting of the Dorpskerk.
Please buy your tickets as soon as possible!
